It's a wild wild web out there, and in particular when it comes to modded minecraft, you may have noticed there's an awful of of outdated and bad info out there. This is to be expected as the game and mod pack s continue to evolve so quickly.
But, I can't find a real good, solid up--to-date source for Java arguments. And to be more specific, I'm referring to bit java, and large 1.
Getting Started (Botania)
And I don't mean memory allocation, either. I'm looking for the smoothest garbage collection arguments I can find both for client and server.
I currently have a big jumbled mess that I've been using for a while now, and it works, but I honestly have no idea what each one does. I don't remember exactly where I got them from, either. And when I went to google some alternatives, I would just get crashes. What would you all recommend? Inaeo New Member. Quetzi turned me on to this thread. It helped me figure out some arguments that worked for me.
That's perfect. Really well written. I learned a bunch. I will definitely try these, editing the RAM only. Quick follow-up question: At the end of that post, it mentions that these arguments are for vanilla launcher because other launchers force arguments that will mess with these. I was already going to move it of the curse launcher, but should I skip MultiMC, too?Forums New posts Search forums.

Usually within minutes I start seeing these lag spikes. Known Fix Nothing I can figure out gets rid of the lag spikes permanently increasing memory to 6GB, etc. If I play long enough without exiting completely out of the launcher, eventually the lag spikes happen every 10 seconds or so. Also, TaskMan doesn't show anything unusual during the spikes, and background tasks don't hiccup so it seems to just be FTB Beyond. Henry Link Popular Member.
This sounds like the garbage collector kicking in. That is what I thought at first, because restarting the game helps, and restarting the Curse launcher helps. With a fresh restart of everything, I was able to play for about 40 minutes without noticing anything other than the normal tiny "hiccups" when traveling in one direction and loading chunks. About 40 minutes in, I had my first big spike freezes for about 3 seconds - but the log just says server cannot keep up.
A few minutes later, my FPS on the surface dropped from the normal down to - but the game is still very playable and "smooth". Then about 6 minutes later I had my third 3 second freeze.
This is all in my latest log which I will post in a few minutes. In the past two days I've noticed similar behavior - and one time it was so noticeable that I just stood in place and used the mouse to spin around and around - every 10 seconds or so I would freeze for 3 seconds.
I have noticed that this usually happens in conjunction with a world save, but why spinning in place would make that happen repeatedly, I cannot fathom. I have explored a small area around my spawn, but the world save folder is only 37MB at this point. I will explore the java arguments to see if they help and post updates. Last edited: Mar 23, Well - with new java settings I had a 3 second spike about 7 minutes in, but then lasted about an hour to the next bad spike - but it the mean time the game seemed a lot more "jerky" and not as smooth.
If I had to guess I would say that GC is occurring more frequently but in shorter intervals, thus the "jerkiness". The 3 second spikes still seem to be related to world saves, so if that is the case then a RAM disk with backups to physical disk might be a work around for me. So are you playing single player? That is an indication that you are maxing out one of your cores on the processor. It is a general, large-sized "kitchen-sink" modpack. Sign In.[FTB Revelation] Episode 9 - Digital Storage

I do, people post a lot of great builds and ideas there. SatanicSantaJun 4, VikeStepJun 4, DravardenJun 4, I'm having to go there don't usually since most FTB staff now post on reddit instead of here I can only presume that the staff are not allowed to post freely here, which seems completely stupid.
I check both frequently, but the reddit seems more active? Can some1 please tell me how is reddit used? I understand it as some sort of forum where you vote and downvote stuff, but seems weirdly organized Any help would be appreciated. Feed The Beast Builders Paradise
It is used to grow crops placed in it. In the GUI, the top of the central two slots is where a seed can be placed, and below that the block that the seed grows on can be placed usually Dirt. In order to grow, Water and Redstone Flux RF are required; Water can be input through the lower front, back, or bottom ports, and RF can be input through the top, or through the lower left and right sides anywhere with an orange dot, except through the front center block.
Water, despite being strictly required, acts as a small Fertilizer boost when refilled by your fluid input systems. This boost dies down until the next time it receives water. When it has all its requirements, it will grow the crop, generating a product and its seeds, consuming 8 RF per tick.
Items can be output through the front center side with the orange dot on it. Various Fertilizers can be added to increase the growth modifier production speedincluding Bone Meal. The growth modifier is listed on the left side of the GUI, along with the amount of Fertilizer.
It can be added through the lower front, back, or bottom ports. Using Fertilizer does not increase energy consumption. The Garden Cloche can be disabled via a Redstone signal. Sign In. From Feed The Beast Wiki.

There are two types of flora besides the Pure Daisy and Mystical Flowers : functional and generating. The functional flora use Mana to perform a function while the generating flora consume items or other sources to generate Mana.
This guide will talk you through Botania until you are equipped to make the Agricarnation. The very first thing you are going to want to do in Botania is get the 16 different Mystical Flowers. I recommend getting 16 of each type of flower. Before you start making flowers though, you will need to make a Petal Apothecary. It would also be a good idea to have a decent source of seeds because each recipe in the Petal Apothecary requires one seed.
Another important item for Botania is the Lexica Botania. This is the ultimate in-game documentation and can help you whether or not you use this guide. It's a made with a book and sapling crafted together. One of the important flowers you are going to want to make first is the Pure Daisy.
Then, throw a seed into the Petal Apothecary to get the Pure Daisy. Plant it somewhere on a Dirt block. I recommend getting 32 of each before moving on just to be safe. Once this is done, I recommend making a Wand of the Forest. See Messing with Mana for more information. Next, you will need to create your first generational flower, the Daybloom if playing in a version before R.
This flower produces Mana with the power of the sun.
It is also made in a Petal Apothecary filled with water. If you are playing in version 8. All petals go into the Petal Apothecaryand again require one seed added as well.
You could set up a 3x3 infinite water source for the Hydroangeas to use as their source of water. With any of these flowers you can start on Mana manipulation. More flowers can be made using the Lexica Botania later in your Mana-making process. Now that you have a form of Mana generation, you will want to make two things: the Mana Pool and Mana Spreader. These will be used to transport and store your Mana in a useable form. First, place down your Daybloom on dirt or Hydroangeas by water where it will have access to the sun.
Then, place a Mana Spreader near the flower.
